Let’s get to know Paco Panda

GFN:
How long have you been in the furry fandom?
Paco:
For 10 years, on August 2018 I celebrated my 10th anniversary on the fandom.

GFN:
What attracted you to the furry fandom?
Paco:
I was always attracted to animals and cartoon animal characters, that’s something that never stopped since I was a kid. I invented my panda character when I was 9 years old, and imagined many adventures as me as that bear. I was also the mascot at my high school, something that started a high interest to make character performances on animal costumes. When I found the furry fandom, I realized I was not alone on this world, that there out were many people with exactly same interests to me. Furry Fandom fits me very well.

GFN:
How did you get your start as an artist in the fandom?
Paco:
I always drew, but when I was 16 I started drawing and painting seriously. And since my main interest where cartoon animals, I drew furries even before knowing about the furry fandom. It was a surprise for me when I joined the community, and there were people who already knew me.

GFN:
Who/What would you say was your biggest inspiration when first starting out?
Paco:
An Argentinian cartoonist, Quino, creator of the comic Mafalda, I grew up reading it. And of course all Disney movies and cartoons, I watched repeatedly most of their movies. And with TV shows like Tail Spin, Chip n’ Dale rescue rangers, Animaniacs, Garfield…

GFN:
If you had just 1 piece of advice on becoming an artist in the fandom, what would it be?
Paco: Don’t be afraid of failure, you will never get what you want if you never keep working on it, we need to fail to learn.

GFN:
Where can we find your art and get information on commissions?
Paco:
Oh no, commissions are always closed D: But you can check my artwork on Deviantart, on Furaffinity, and also on my Telegram channel: panda_paco

GFN:
And now the really really tough question: What is your favorite food?
Paco:
Enchiladas, of course. I love Mexican food, and you can kill me with enchiladas.

GFN: Any other thoughts you’d like to share with our readers?
Paco:
Sometimes we think to be our character is going out from reality, putting a mask an acting in some other way. But I think that’s the most honest way to be yourself, you show the world a side of you that you never dare to reveal, how you really are.

That’s some really great insight, thank you Paco! It was great getting to know you a bit more. And thank you again for being our first artist guest on Good Fur News!
